My Role: Character Artist / Technical Animator 

Overview:

The independent short film "Dark in Berlin" utilized Unreal Engine to create dynamic, interactive environments for capture in an LED volume, achieving a photoreal portrayal of Berlin without any on-location shooting. This 15-minute film relied entirely on virtual production techniques. As part of All of It Now, our team was responsible for crafting the virtual environments and digital characters, ensuring a seamless and immersive cinematic experience.

My Contribution:

  • Designed and created background dancing crowd characters using Character Creator.

  • Cleaned up motion capture data from Xsens, retargeting animations to 3D characters in Unreal Engine.

  • Converted skeleton animations into Vertex Animations in Unreal Engine for optimized performance.
